Thailand has known several calendars whose less ancient were lunar calendars (Chinese fashion).

The Thai calendar today (since 1941) is identical to the gregorian calendar but it starts in 543 before JC (date of death of the first Buddha), so the year 2002 is the year 2545 of the Thai calendar.

In spite of this change, thai people continue to celebrate the beginning of the year from the 13th to the 15th of april.

The indication 'reudoo' concerns the season, they are 3 of them : hot (narw), very hot (rorn) and rainy (phon).
