The ethiopic calendar is identical to the coptic calendar excepted for the year of beginning.

So, it has 13 months, 12 of 30 days and an insert month of 5 or 6 days. The year begins on the 11th of september (12th for the leap years).

The leap years are the gregorian leap years.

The start year of the calendar is put back 7 years before the gregorian one as a result of a lightweight disagreement between the Ethipian Orthodox Church and the Roman Catholic Church concerning the date of the creation of ... the world.
